Medical Assistant Program Chair Supports Students on Their Way to Success

Published on July 15, 2014 by Staff Writer

010 (2)Anna Braden has only been the medical assistant program chair at the Broadview University-Boise campus since March 2014, but she’s already making a positive impression on her students.

“She gives everything of herself to make sure we’re going to succeed. And she genuinely cares. It’s not just a job to her, and that makes such a difference,” says Christine Dillree, one of Braden’s students.

Like other Broadview University instructors, Braden has experience in the field. She holds a certificate in medical assisting as well as a bachelor’s degree in health care administration, along with a decade’s worth of experience working at West Valley Medical Center. She is now focused on helping students succeed at Broadview University and says she enjoys it.

“I love the aspect of teaching students what I’ve learned throughout my career,” she says.

The close-knit campus, as well as the helpful, caring staff and instructors is what Braden feels makes Broadview University different than other institutions.

“Because we’re so small, we’re able to have personal interactions with students. We know everyone’s name and where they’re at in their classes,” she says. “Students can come to any of us and ask questions, no matter which program they’re in. It’s really personal, and I think that’s a good thing.”

Braden also thinks Broadview University prepares students for successful futures and careers because of the support and encouragement it provides them. She, along with her colleagues, push students to persevere even when they may want to give up.

“I’ve been in the students’ shoes, and I can relate to them. Just being there and being their number one motivation shows that we do care,” she says. “We thrive on their success.”
