Wondering what to do with those unused items in the closet or garage? Donate them to Broadview’s Student Chapter of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (SCNAVTA).

They are accepting donations for their First Annual SCNAVTA Community Yard Sale on August 28th and 29th.

“We’ve received a lot of books,” said Ashley Halvorson, a veterinary technology student. “We need more household decorations.

Veterinary technology student Alyssa Beyer added, “We accept anything that’s gently used.”

A portion of the money raised from the yard sale will benefit local animal rescue teams, and the SCNAVTA group will use the remaining money to help more animals in the community.

“This yard sale will help the group raise money for future events and projects to benefit animals of the Treasure Valley,” said Casey Blizzard, a veterinary technology instructor and SCNAVTA Advisor.

Events and projects that Broadview’s SCNAVTA group have done in the past include riding floats in Meridian’s winter lights parade with Meridian Valley Humane Society and Boise Bully Breed Rescue, participating in Nampa’s Pooch Party Stroll and Splash, and hosting a preventative care workshop on campus.

“We have also done a Halloween fundraiser for Reptile Adventures, and a kitten adoption with Conrad Strays,” said Casey.

SCNAVTA is affiliated with the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America. In addition to helping animals in the community, the professional organization gives veterinary technology students the opportunity to improve their understanding of veterinary science and network with professionals in their field.

“SCNAVTA continues to be an important and fun part of being a veterinary technology student at Broadview University,” said Casey.

Lacking items to donate? You can help Broadview’s SCNAVTA group by visiting their yard sale at the Broadview University-Boise campus on August 28th and 29th from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both days.
