Is it Commencement or Graduation? A Beginning and not an Ending

Published on October 21, 2015 by Karen Newmeyer

With Broadview University being on a quarter system, every three months we have a new “crop” of graduates. Since graduation exercises are only twice a year, it is important to acknowledge our graduates for summer quarter.

Melanee Davis graduated wiBroadview%20University,%20Orem%20Campus_bmpth her Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology degree. She started at Broadview during her junior year of high school. She has always had a clear vision of where she wants to work and has pursued that passion. Upon completing her externship at Payson Family Pet Hospital, she was hired on as a technician. Besides dogs and cats, her job at PFPH allows her to work with many exotic species including wildlife such as hawks and eagles.

Another graduate with her Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology is Brittanny Christensen. Brittany has been working actively as a veterinary technician during her studies here. She has spent the majority of her time working at an after-hours and emergency clinic, so she sees a variety of cases at interesting hours when most students are at home in bed.

Receiving her Certificate in Massage Therapy, Luz Orozco (known as Faby to her friends and clients) came to us after being a licensed massage therapist in California. Her outgoing and warm personality will help her be a success as she takes her previous experience and new skill sets into the spa industry. We were lucky she chose to continue her education with Broadview University!

U.S. Senator from Utah, Orrin Hatch, said, “There is a good reason they call these ceremonies ‘commencement exercises.’ Graduation is not the end; it’s the beginning.” We are excited to see what our graduates will do with their lives and what a difference they will make in the world and their professions.
