BVU Students Join Future Farmers of America Competition
Published on February 7, 2017 by Tom Westover
Future Farmers of America is a national organization dedicated to encouraging agricultural knowledge and leadership of youth across America. Every year FFA chapters have the opportunity to showcase their talents by competing in regional, state, and even national competitions.
During our mock competition teams will take a written exam covering a basic overview of veterinary medicine; identify parasites, dog breeds, and large animal equipment; and participate in practical demonstrations of how to properly restrain dogs and cats, unwrap surgery packs, and set up a fecal float.
These events will be judged by students and faculty of the Veterinary Technology Program and awards will be issued for the teams with the highest scores. This year, however, we have the great opportunity for our Massage Therapy Program to partner with us for this event. Massage therapy students will be providing chair massages to the leaders of each chapter providing them a day of relaxation and enjoyment!
