Broadview Graduation Welcomes Mayor as Keynote Speaker

Published on June 25, 2014 by Bob Trewartha

Broadview University-West Jordan is proud to announce the most recent graduating class, which included Rachel Armstrong, Nichole Fleenor, Mitchel Klupenger, Jennifer Madrigal, Kari Olsen and Panasai Soakai.

The event was a festive one with Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams giving the keynote address. His speech gave the graduates a look into the past, present and future. The Mayor gave some facts and figures about how fast change is taking place and encourages the graduates to keep learning, and go out ahead of the wave and find success.

Our staff and faculty enjoy graduation as much as the graduates.  Albeit the students did the heavy lifting to get to graduation, but that makes our team at Broadview even more proud. Brittany Monte, Broadview’s regional online learning coordinator/academic coordinator, said, “I could not be more proud of our students at Broadview. At graduation we celebrate the best of the best, and even though we will miss them, we wish them the best of luck”.

There is no graduation without graduates! Broadview University-West Jordan had many great representative graduates, but one of our highlights was veterinary technology graduate Rachel Armstrong who gave the student commencement address. Rachel talked about the importance of finishing her degree and told the rest of the graduates to enjoy their success, but keep moving forward. It may be a long road to graduation, paved with challenges, but I have never met a graduate that did not think it was worth it.

Broadview University works from curriculum development to graduation to ensure that our students have the skills necessary to be successful and find employment in their chosen field. It is even more of a celebration when our graduates acquire that career opportunity.

Over the past 40 years, Broadview University (Utah Career College prior to 2009) has graduated thousands of people. If you are a graduate and would like to get re-involved with Broadview University, call 801-542-7424 and ask for Bob.
