Celebrating Broadview Students’ Accomplishments at Graduation

Published on January 8, 2015 by jhendricks

Last month, about 15 students from Broadview University got one of the best Christmas presents of all – a new career! They graduated from their programs!

Graduation was held on Friday, December 19 at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center in West Valley City. In addition to Broadview University-West Jordan, the Layton campus and BEAU were represented by their faculty, staff and graduates.

Broadview UniversityBefore the ceremony started, Broadview took pictures of every graduate with the other members of their program and their program chair. The pride on the program chairs’ faces was an awesome sight. This is what we work for – people accomplishing their academic and professional dreams at our school. At 6 p.m., graduation started.

Awards were also given out as part of the ceremony.

Criminal justice student Nick Bricker, who accepted his B.S. in criminal justice that night, won the Graduate of the Quarter award for the leadership he showed and grades he earned as a student.

Amanda Babcock, working in the Education Department, won the staff member of the quarter award.

Business Program Chair Bob Trewartha won the Faculty Member of the Quarter award for the instruction and mentorship he gave to students both inside and outside of the business program. Bob told me, “It’s truly an honor to be chosen by my peers. Actually, I learned more from the students than they did from me. I’m lucky to work at Broadview,” he chuckled.

Each graduate had their name called during the ceremony to walk onto the stage, receive their diploma and have pictures taken. Students who graduated with honors wore a special yellow cord on their robe.

Among the graduates was Ivette Hernandez, who received her A.A.S. in medical administrative assisting. She shared, “It was an unforgettable experience that I will always remember, and my time at Broadview was amazing. I am looking forward to start working at a small clinic where I can begin to use the skills I learned. Thank you so much for all your help!”

It was a terrific time of celebration for everyone in attendance. Graduates, family members, staff and faculty had a great time honoring their graduates’ achievements.

We at Broadview University-West Jordan would love to celebrate your graduation too! Talk to an admissions representative today about the degree you’ve always wanted to have and how we can help you achieve it.
