Student Spotlight: Nelly Prado, Business Management
Published on May 5, 2014 by Bob Trewartha
Broadview University-West Jordan student Nelly Prado has personality to spare. She has been in a few of the classes I have taught, and she brings a special energy that makes the class more fun for everyone. I had a chance to ask her a few questions and here is her story.
Tell me a bit about your background.
I am currently a full-time student at Broadview in the business administration program. I am also a full-time employee as an administrative assistant, in which I utilize many of the concepts I have learned here at Broadview. I enjoy going to school, as well as work, and spending time with my family.
Why did you choose to go back to school? Why Broadview?
I chose to come back to school to further my education and have a career. I chose Broadview because it fits my life style. I am a wife, mother, and a full-time employee outside of Broadview. Attending Broadview has made going to school possible.
What advice do you have for new students?
To go for it, stick to it, and apply yourself. If you really want it, you will get it. Don’t quit!
What would be your dream job?
My perfect career opportunity would have to be in management. I love working with people and see myself as a leader.
Why do you feel it is important for people to get a college degree?
Companies want to see that you finished something. I want to be able to provide this to them, show them that I have the knowledge to do the job. It’s not an easy task to go to school and finish your degree. I think this is why companies want to hire individual with college degrees.
How have the concepts you’ve learned in class applied to your job?
Many of the concepts of school that I have learned and applied to work are ethics. I am a strong believer in doing what is right, especially in the work place. I stand tall for integrity and the ethical behaviors in the work place. I feel everyone should enjoy the time spent at work and should feel safe.
