Career Clothing Closet: Helping You Dress the Part
Published on February 8, 2013 by arothstein
Broadview University-West Jordan prides itself as an educational institution, where the education and applied learning imparted to our students in programs like Veterinary Technology, Massage Therapy, Paralegal, Business, as well as many others – prepare the graduate to hit the ground running in their chosen career.
Despite educating a skillful workforce, one thing that many educational institutions do not teach is the dos and don’ts on interviewing apparel. In other words, once the obstacles and challenges of obtaining a degree are overcome, the next issue becomes showcasing your skills in a presentable and professional manner to employers.
This month, the career services department in West Jordan will be hosting a clothing drive for the new Career Services Clothing Closet. The drive entails the donation of gently used professional, job interview-appropriate clothing items to the library. All proceeds benefit students – including YOU!
Soon you will find the perfect job interview outfit here on campus, for FREE! But first we need to build our selection. This is where you can help. Here are some items we need:
- Dress Shirts/Blouses
“It’s a great opportunity to help other students, and the Closet will be there if you need clothes for your job interview too,” said campus librarian, Jennifer Hendricks.
David Contreras, community manager at Broadview University-West Jordan, added, “I will definitely donate some things. I can think of some white shirts and a few ties that I don’t use anymore.”
So, help out your stuffed drawers and drooping coat hangers by donating the clothing that doesn’t quite fit or you just simply don’t like anymore. The program with the most items wins a pizza party, so help us help you, and your stomach while we’re at it. So watch for information in March about the grand opening celebration of the Career Services clothing closet here at West Jordan!
