Broadview University Community Service Day: A Day to Give Back
Published on May 20, 2014 by arothstein
Recently, Broadview University-West Jordan participated in the University’s annual Community Service Day, where staff, faculty members and students all come together for a day of service to the community. Broadview University teamed up with the city of West Jordan to take an old jungle gym that the local kids use and make it functional and beautiful once again.
“Thank you for the wonderful job Broadview University did repainting the playground at Veterans Memorial Park. I greatly appreciate any assistance we receive to improve our community. We had layoffs in our department a few years ago, and we have not replaced those positions—yet the city continues to go, so we can certainly use the public’s assistance. Since our resources are spread thin, we generally try to have projects consisting of cleaning up/improving existing infrastructure like the one you group completed. Thank you very much for your service to improve our park,” said Tim Peters, public services manager for the city of West Jordan.
Broadview University has long been a leader in community service and searches for different projects to help our local community. Broadview University-West Jordan has partnered with the city of West Jordan in the past and looks forward to future partnerships. It is one of the goals of Broadview University to give back through service and applied learning, in addition to our annual community service day.
The city of West Jordan and the citizens of West Jordan benefited from Broadview’s efforts, but it was also important for our staff to be part of this service project.
“I love working out in the community to help serve the people of the West Jordan community. It was great to put aside our normal tasks and duties to help to beautify the playground in West Jordan. It was time well spent in giving back to the community,” said Aaron Escher, director of admissions for Broadview University-West Jordan.
At Broadview University, our mission is simply “We Care,” which we strive to live every day, but we truly celebrate it with our annual Community Service day.
