Veterinary Technology Graduate Wants to Make the World a Better Place with Her Education

Kaydee Bowen has always loved animals and wanted to pursue an education that would allow her to help people and their pets. She chose to enroll in the veterinary technology program at Broadview University-Orem and is now a graduate ready to embark on her career.
“I wanted to go into a field where I could, in a sense, make the world a better place. Animals bring such joy to me, and I know the joy that they can bring to others,” says Kaydee. “I want to be able to teach people how to better take care of their pets to live healthier and longer lives.”
Kaydee says she chose the vet tech program at BVU because it was focused, had small class sizes and a lot of hands-on learning.
“I am a really hands-on person. I feel like that is the best way to learn something,” she explains. “You could watch how to place a catheter a million times, but until you actually do it, is when it will click.”
As part of her degree program, Kaydee completed an internship that gave her the hands-on experience she needed to land a job at a veterinary clinic before she graduated.
“My goal has always been to help people, work with animals and try my best, and this school has given me the opportunity to be able to accomplish that,” she says. “I am really excited to be able to put my knowledge and hard work to the test. I have been waiting for this for a long time.”
Kaydee’s success is largely due to her instructors, who she says are willing to help their students in any way they can. Kaydee’s entire educational experience is one she says has given her confidence.
“Broadview University teaches you what you need to know. They teach you to be prepared. They tell you real life experiences. They give you the knowledge, confidence and ability to be able to succeed in your career,” Kaydee says. “It has been the greatest experience I have been able to be a part of, and I wouldn’t change a minute of it.”
