Nachos, Cupcakes, and Curriculums at Broadview

This week, Broadview University celebrated our students and the way our programs enrich our students and communities. In the process, we all got a chance to get to know one another better and take a break from the stress of midterm week.
First, last Tuesday we celebrated Cinco de Mayo at the student lounge. This holiday has become a celebration of Mexican heritage and culture, and BVU had decorations and music in the lounge that matched the theme. For the event, we had nachos with chili, cheese, lettuce, and other veggies, with desserts and drinks available too. A piñata party gave students an opportunity to take out the stress of midterms on a piñata and get some yummy candy in the process. We had so much fun, we held an encore celebration on Wednesday, May 6. More students had some nachos and fun in the lounge.
Concurrently with this was our Commitment to Academic Success celebration. Students were invited to sign one of four posters on campus to show that they were committed to their academic success. We offered stickers and graduation-themed cupcakes to people who did so. Broadview University is proud of the students who showed their commitment to academic success. At our school, it goes hand-in-hand with professional success, because our classes are designed to teach students the knowledge and skills to succeed in fast-growing career fields.
Finally, May 6 was also the day Broadview University held its Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting. Our program chairs invited professionals in the field, employers and managers, students, and alumni to come talk about the programs of study we offer and what we can do to make it even more responsive to the needs of the professionals and the markets. Everyone who came got a catered dinner and some BVU swag as a thank you, and our program chairs got valuable advice from people who know what the job field looks like. These meetings are a valuable way for Broadview University to continue to fine-tune our curriculum to meet the needs of students and the community.
