Salt Lake Comic Con 2015 has come and gone and it was a great event for BEAU (Broadview Entertainment Arts University) students and the campus.comic garrick2

One of the biggest names in comic book publishing Top Cow came to the BEAU campus to do a portfolio review of the students work and we had several student volunteers man the Top Cow Booth during the convention. BEAU students Ben Vogler, William Gillmore, Robert Colyar, Nick Wof and Program Chair Garrick Dean took turns working side by side with President Matt Hawkins and Assistant Editor Ryan Cady selling books, networking and talking shop.

This was a great professional level student and industry event and BEAU was happy to be a part of the Top Cow Booth! Ryan Cady said “The students were great and so knowledgeable and positive, Top Cow will put Salt Lake City into our comic book  convention line up for attendance” This is the type of activity that allow our students to interact with industry professionals and give them an important career expanding experience.

Doug Wagner the Comic Book scripting instructor, Phillip Sevy the Comic Book illustration instructor and Garrick Dean Program Chair of Comic and Sequential Art all spoke on panels talking about the industry and the entertainment field. The convention was a huge success once again in the valley and BEAU had a great presence there and we received so much positive feedback about our students and our instructors.
