In the words of analysis expert Andrea Wick Garay, “the business analysis role (is) a broker of information.” By gathering and vetting the quality of information from a wide variety of sources, the business analyst gathers a snapshot of the big picture, and is responsible for communicating these concepts across an organization.

Being able to spell out potential consequences to management in a way that demands attention is crucial for both the success of the analyst and the organization as a whole.

Taking Nothing for Granted – The most effective employees with a degree in business administration never hesitate to ask “why.” It’s not about ego or coming into an organization determined to make a predetermined number of changes. It’s about viewing the system as a whole as well as individual processes, and being able to identify any pieces that simply don’t make sense.
