Earn Your Diploma At Broadview University, And Become A Veterinary Assistant

Class begins on November 13th

Your passion for animal care can lead to a rewarding career as veterinary assistant with a Diploma in Veterinary Assistant from Broadview University. In as little as 9 months* you can find yourself working under the supervision of veterinarians or veterinary technicians as an integral part of the comprehensive clinical team.

Your Future

With your diploma from Broadview, you’ll gain the knowledge and skills needed to excel in various clinical settings such as animal hospitals, shelters, human societies, and private clinics. You’ll learn to assist in animal care, ways to keep animals healthy, and be able to support pets and their owners on the path towards recovery from injuries and health challenges. You’ll also be able to teach owners how to better care for their pets and keep them healthy.

Your Diploma in Veterinary Assistant

Students will be challenged by instructors to learn and apply skills such as office procedures, effective client communication, animal behavior, and the restraint and handling of canine and feline patients for routine procedures in obtaining biological samples and radiographic positioning. Additional skills include OSHA standards of sanitation and kennel management, surgical suite preparation, surgical instrument identification, care and assist in post-surgical patient recovery.

Students will learn and understand common veterinary medical terminology, biology and comparative anatomy, breed recognition, as well as understand normal and abnormal clinical presentation of patients. The program concludes in an externship that allows students to practice skills in an actual veterinary health care setting.

*Completion time is based on full-time, year round enrollment.
