Medical assistant graduate, Tamme, shares her story about why she chose to pursue a career in medical assisting and why she decided Broadview University-Madison was the best fit for her.

Tamme is the youngest of eleven children and lives in Middleton, Wis., with her boyfriend and two children. For the past six years she has worked as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) until she was diagnosed with a shoulder injury.

“I was unable to do my job and I had to find something that I could do in the health field because I love taking care of other people,” said Tamme.

As a result of her injury, she had to attend a pain clinic and that is where she met medical assistant (MA) who graduated from Broadview University. After talking with her Tamme was inspired to pursue her career as an MA.

“I did my research and I decided to look into this program. I liked the smaller classes and I knew I didn’t want to be on a waitlist, so I enrolled and graduated,” said Tamme. She continues by explaining how her children were her so happy and they were her biggest cheerleaders throughout her education.

Tamme currently works at SSM Health Dean Medical Group in Madison, Wis., where she loves the fact that she gets to do more and that she is involved in her patients every day care.

“From my experience, this career college was a family,” said Tamme. “Not only did you have your instructors but you had someone who was there for you no matter what. Our instructors went out of their way to make sure that we understood through examples and went above and beyond to make sure we had the skills and knowledge needed to be successful.”

According to Tamme, after her injury she wasn’t complete until she finished this program and started working at SSM Health Dean Medical Group.

“This program helped me in ways that I couldn’t even imagine. I thank you all for having this school, this program and the staff,” said Tamme. “I am complete, I am me again.”
