What is MAT®?
We have heard of physical therapists, but few outside of the professional athletic field know much about Muscle Activation Techniques®. Muscle Activation Techniques® (or MAT®) is an approach to physical therapy and rehabilitation. MAT® believes that movement and exercise, health and muscle contraction is linked to overall well-being and athletic performance for all ages. By evaluating and comparing muscular contractile efficiency, certified MAT® Specialists work with clients to ensure their muscular system is balanced. This approach also ensures their bodies function with optimal stability.
Professional Athletes Using MAT®
Recently utilized by professional golfer Bryson DeChambeau to prepare for PGA tournaments, this non-invasive technique can correct muscular imbalances, joint instability, and limitations in range of motion. MAT® has also been used by fellow pro golfers Shane Bertsch, U.S. Women’s Soccer goalkeeper Hope Solo, and the Denver Broncos . These techniques can enhance injury recovery and improve prevention so they can spend less time sidelined during the season.
Become A Certified MAT® Specialist
In collaboration with Muscle Activation Techniques®, Broadview University developed a 12 week, self-paced, online module based pathway towards MAT® Specialist certification. Each of the 4 modules, Lower Body, Upper Body, Trunk and Spine, and Cervical/Hand and Foot, concludes with a 2-day lab at the state of the art MAT® Headquarters in Denver, CO where participants can test for MAT® Certification.
