Veterinary Technology Faculty Spotlight: Jaimee Young
Published on March 12, 2018 by Charles Buehler
What is your connection to Broadview University?
I am very excited to be teaching at Broadview University. In the beginning, I started out with Broadview University as a student, received my Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology in 2012 and then became certified as veterinary technician. I have worked as the lead technician in a full practice animal hospital for the past 8 years.
Why did you decide to start teaching at Broadview?
It was time for me to pursue another career path in the veterinary field and fortunately became an instructor with Broadview University-West Jordan in February of this year. I am really excited to meet and help students achieve their goal of becoming the very best technician that they can be. I have a passion for training and teaching technicians the skills and knowledge needed to become successful in a clinic or hospital setting.
What inspired you to work in Veterinary Technology?
My love for animals is what drove me to become a veterinary technician. It is very rewarding to be able to advocate for the animals and educate the owners on the best way to care for their beloved pets.
Tell us a little about your life outside of Broadview
In my free time I enjoy camping, fishing, going to Comic Con, going to concerts, (I have a huge passion for music) and I love to read. My husband John and I have three amazing children: Lauren 24, Lane 21 and Zoe 13. We also have three very spoiled cats and three very spoiled dogs.
Anything else we should know?
I am grateful to be a part of the Broadview University family once again, and am very excited to help every student on their new career path. Please don’t hesitate to approach me with any questions or concerns, I am here to help.
